Third Eye Meditation

How to Use Third Eye Meditation

When your third eye chakra is open, you are immersed in spiritual contemplation. You are alert and mindful of your surroundings while maintaining an acute awareness of purpose and intuition.

Meditation, practicing yoga poses that stimulate the third eye chakra, and chanting mantras are all recommended as methods for opening your third eye. Here are some tips for doing so:

1. Visualization

Visualization is one of the most commonly practiced third eye meditation techniques. This involves thinking about your desired goals in life and envisioning them with all your senses, thus helping to bring closer towards them. Some believe that visualization also opens up your chakras, including your third eye chakra, which enables guidance from an higher power.

To practice visualization, find a quiet place where you can sit comfortably and unwind. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths until your mind has settled down before focusing on the space between your eyebrows (known as your sixth chakra or third eye) where a white or indigo blue light may emerge – you may also hear voices within that tell you what needs to happen in life so as to reach goals more efficiently.

Once you have a clear image of what you want in life, regularly visualize it to make sure it seems realistic. Feeling emotional attachment to what you desire will provide an added push towards reaching it.

Visualization exercises can also open the Ajna Chakra in the throat region and be represented by light blue or turquoise green color. This chakra serves as the centre for communication, enabling us to express ourselves more easily when open.

If you find that you connect strongly with your intuition and recognize numerous synchronicities in life, your third eye could already be open. Intense dreams as well as childlike curiosity may indicate this is happening to you.

2. Breathing

Breathing is a central component of meditation, but especially helpful for opening the third eye. Breath helps energy move freely into and out of chakras for balance, calm, and focus while strengthening connections between brain, heart, nervous system and peripheral nerves to promote awareness, empathy, creativity and intuition.

Third eye meditation uses various breathing techniques. One effective technique is nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), which works to balance both sides of the brain while providing clarity and focus in meditation. Another useful technique is bumble bee breathing which focuses on taking natural breaks between inhales and exhales where breathing pauses naturally.

Williams suggests chanting can be an effective way to open the third eye by activating and raising vibrational frequencies in the pineal gland and stimulating it to waken and expand. She suggests visualizing glowing lights between eyebrows to open your third eye more readily as well as practicing daily to strengthen intuition and awaken it further.

Keep a dream journal to gain a greater understanding of your subconscious messages, and connect with crystals such as amethyst, lapis lazuli, shungite, purple violet tourmaline, kyanite or labradorite to tap their energies. Also stay grounded by connecting regularly with nature as this can help maintain a more balanced state of consciousness; meditation will deepen this process, increasing intuition as you begin recognizing synchronicities such as thinking about someone before they call or run into them!

3. Mantra

The third eye is a spiritual center that links our intuition and imagination, offering an avenue to greater mental clarity, deeper inner knowing, and unleashed intuitive power that may have previously been suppressed. Here are three third eye meditation techniques designed to activate this vital energy center.

Start by visualizing an indigo-colored energy ball sitting between your eyebrows in the center of your forehead and watching as it absorbs prana (life force) for several minutes. Shift your focus to your throat chakra (Vishuddha) for several breaths before continuing down through heart, solar plexus and sacral chakras before pausing at root for several breaths before returning back up again through throat chakra.

Once you have established a mindfulness practice by focusing on breathing, mantra can become an additional third eye meditation technique. A soothing word or phrase can help keep your focus in the present moment without wandering off into thoughts about to-do lists or problems from elsewhere in your day.

Yoga teacher Rosie Acosta advises her students to use an om mantra associated with the third eye chakra as well as an essential oil such as white sage, pine needles, lavender or sandalwood for relaxation purposes.

One method for developing your third eye meditation practice involves joining index finger and thumb together in the “gyan mudra.” Focus your inner gaze on your third eye, then repeat this simple one-word mantra “Peace.” As you say it out loud, feel your gaze slowly lift up towards the space between eyebrows.

Danielle Matluck, a meditation teacher, recommends Holotropic Breathwork – an emerging practice combining rapid and controlled breathing techniques with soothing music to reach a specific state of consciousness.

4. Focus

While visualization and breathing can be effective third eye meditation techniques, some believe that adding a focus point could further unlock its power. One such focus point would be the area between your eyebrows – known as your sixth chakra. A mantra such as Om, Shanti or some other sound may help direct attention back towards where energy is strongest while strengthening intuition and providing you with insights.

Another way to create a focus point is with crystals, which are believed to possess healing energies. You could also try essential oils like white sage or pine which may help cleanse and clear out your pineal gland. You can find such crystals at local metaphysical stores as well as online.

Additionally, you can meditate by practicing mindfulness – paying attention to the present moment – which helps clear away mental clutter, improve concentration and enable clear thinking. Meditation also can enhance creativity while inducing feelings of awe and wonder.

Sun gazing, a form of third eye meditation whereby you hold your gaze on light in front of you, should also be practiced regularly as part of third eye development. Care must be taken when performing sun gazing as this practice can be dangerous if done incorrectly; Covington recommends consulting healers, doing Reiki/energy work/spiritual development/work with healers/energy work practitioners etc and engaging with new experiences such as pulling Tarot/Oracle cards/channeling writing etc that taps into intuition to open third eye and opening your third eye/third eye chakra.

5. Relaxation

Relaxation is the cornerstone of meditation techniques. Your mind must be totally at rest for information to flow into the third eye and come through, so find a quiet spot and meditate for 10-15 minutes, focusing on breathing and ceasing all other thoughts. Once complete, shift your consciousness toward what’s really inside: an observer that watches over body and soul – this witness observes you but doesn’t share your body or mind’s focus or perspective. This witness represents you while remaining distinct.

If your mind won’t stop buzzing, try moving slowly through each chakra in a relaxed manner. Starting with your throat chakra, take several deep breaths before moving on to heart, solar plexus and finally root chakras.

Poon suggests using crystals such as labradorite, celestite, and azurite for this purpose; you can either hold these stones in your hand or place them upon the brow chakra for maximum effectiveness.

As well as opening your third eye, this technique can also increase intuition and ground you more fully in reality, reduce anxiety levels and increase mental clarity.

If you want to foster deeper spiritual connections and increase clairvoyant abilities, this meditation may be just what’s needed to make that happen. Easy to practice regularly and perfect for entering a state of lucidity; all it requires is regular practice! Make sure you practice regularly & be patient as your progress unfolds!
