Nonduality...words fall short
  • Nonduality. Words fall short of the mark but are necessary to point you in the right direction. Start with duality. God and man. Separation. Division. Opposites. Your mind likes it that way. It needs to separate, define and distinguish.
  • Your ego likes it that way. It needs to judge and feel superior. It requires separation to sustain itself. The ego knows that when you awaken, its existence ceases. Deprive the mind of its attachments through meditation and contemplation.
  • Constantly ask of your self "who am I?". Determine what you are not. You are not your mind, you have a mind. You are not your thoughts, you have thoughts. You are not your emotions, you have emotions. You are not your body, you have a body. You are not your name, you have a name. You are not your background, you have a background.
  • The perception of these means you are merely the perceiver, the observer. What remains. The I AM remains. Not the personal "I am" as in "I am Robert Hill, high school teacher, husband, father of three, brother of two, son of British parents, lover of foreign films, strawberry ice cream, baseball and REM's older stuff!".
  • Remove these definitions and what remains? Find out what you are by first finding out what you are not. The I AM remains. The I AM = pure being = God = Spirit = Ultimate Reality = Inner Light = Brahman = The Tao = The Absolute = Universal Intelligence = the Self = Oneness = Nondual Reality.
  • Can you cross from dualism to nondualism? How to get there? Realize that you are already there! You only require to unyoke yourself from the mind and its attachments. You are truly the witness to all that occurs. Journey deep into the heart of I AM.
  • This sense of being (be-ing) before you attach it your body, mind, etc. Strip away all that you are not and return to your natural state. You are always here and now. The past and future exist in the mind only. Turn within, stilling the mind and come to know and dwell in the timeless I AM. There is nothing more to do.
